April 4, 2026 Picks:

St. Louis at Detroit:

Dustin May is starting in this game for the Cardinals, while the Tigers are countering with Jack Flaherty in the opening game of this series. That is a distinct advantage for the Tigers. Detroit also has an advantage with the bats, so this is an easy pick for us. Tigers win comfortably. Pick: Detroit

Toronto at Chicago White Sox:

The Blue Jays lost two of three to the Rockies earlier this week. The tend to play to the level of their competition, and since we picked them to win yesterday, we are going to go with the White Sox to even up the series today. We don’t have a ton of faith, just a feeling Chicago gets the win. Pick: Chicago White Sox

Baltimore at Pittsburgh:

Shane Baz just signed a big extension with the Orioles, and is looking to reward them here with a solid start. The Pirates aren’t throwing Paul Skenes, so we are going with Baltimore to get the win behind a big pitching performance by Baz. Pick: Baltimore

Los Angeles Dodgers at Washington:

We picked the Nationals yesterday. We can’t pick them to beat the Dodgers again. This one is our lock. Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers (Lock)

Houston at Athletics:

Tatsuya Imai makes his second start for the Astros, and facing off against a tough Athletics lineup in that park is not an easy task. He didn’t look good in his first start, and we think it will be more of the same, as the Athletics tee off and get the win. Pick: Athletics

San Diego at Boston:

Boston has not gotten off to the best start this year, with one of the worst run differentials in the American League. The Padres are also off to a rough start, but have been more competitive. We picked the Padres yesterday, so we are going to with the Red Sox today. No real reason why. Pick: Boston

Milwaukee at Kansas City:

Seth Lugo has quietly had a good last couple years with the Royals. He is off to a good start this year too, spinning 6 1/3 shutout innings in his first start. The Brewers don’t strike out much, but Lugo has never been a big strikeout guy, so that suits him well. He will pitch well enough to get the Royals the win. Pick: Kansas City

Miami at New York Yankees:

The Marlins must be happy that the Yankees have thrown Will Warren and now Ryan Weathers so far in this series. Max Meyer is going for Miami, and he gives up a lot of home runs. That is not a good combination against a Yankees team that loves to let it fly. The Yankees hit three off of Meyer and will win this one easy. Pick: New York Yankees

Cincinnati at Texas:

Rhett Lowder vs Kumar Rocker. If this was the 2021 college baseball World Series, it would have been a hell of a game. Both of these starters have had some growing pains since getting to Major League Baseball, but we are going with Lowder to get the better of Rocker and lead the Reds to the victory. Pick: Cincinnati

Tampa Bay at Minnesota:

Steven Matz seems like the type of reclamation project that thrives with Tampa Bay. He didn’t do so in his first start, but against an anemic Twins offense? We like his chances. Rays win today. Pick: Tampa Bay

Chicago Cubs at Cleveland:

Shota Imanaga is back in the rotation after falling off a cliff in the second half last year. His first start this year wasn’t much better. We think that his best years are behind him, and the Guardians will take advantage and get the win. Pick: Cleveland

Atlanta at Arizona:

Atlanta has the hot bats right now, including a 17-2 win in the opener of this series. Facing Michael Soroka, who is talented but inconsistent, will be an interesting matchup. We think Soroka will do enough to quiet the bats of the Braves, and the Diamondbacks will get the win. Pick: Arizona

Philadelphia at Colorado:

This Phillies lineup in the thin air of Colorado? The balls will be flying all over the park! Phillies score double digit runs and win comfortably. Pick: Philadelphia

New York Mets at San Francisco:

The Giants actually scored some runs on Thursday! The seven run outburst was more than they had scored in any two previous games combined. Yes they came back to earth yesterday, but today they will get them going again. We like San Francisco in this one. Pick: Giants

Seattle at Los Angeles Angels:

If Emerson Hancock pitches like he did in his first start of the season, the Mariners won’t need many runs to win the game. With the way their offense is performing, that is probably a good thing. Seattle scores enough in this one and gets the win over the Angels. Pick: Seattle

Happy picking everyone!
