Ten Daily Musings for 4/6/2026:
Congratulations to the UCLA Women’s basketball team for winning their first NCAA Championship. They dominated South Carolina from the tip off, and cruised to an easy victory.
In WNBA news, the Chicago Sky traded Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream. Reese is a good player, not Chicago decided she wasn’t worth the headache. At least they got two first rounders in the trade.
The men’s National Championship is tonight between Michigan and Connecticut. We thought Arizona would beat Michigan but couldn’t have been more wrong. We are going with the Wolverines to get the Big 10 their first basketball championship since 2000.
Mike Malone was hired as the head coach of North Carolina. That was an out of the box hire we didn’t expect, but he did just win an NBA Championship a few years ago. Will be interesting to watch.
Juan Soto was placed on the injured list with a calf strain. He is expected to miss the next 2-3 weeks. If the Mets didn’t have bad luck, they would have no luck at all.
Mookie Betts was also placed on the injured list with a strained oblique. Mookie is fun to watch, so we hope he makes it back soon.
Frustrations are already starting to boil over for the San Francisco Giants. They are 3-7 and their manager got ejected yesterday, trying to ignite a spark. It didn’t work.
Along with the Giants, the Red Sox have also stumbled out of the gate. They are 2-7, and Roman Anthony came out and said that is unacceptable. We agree.
Dexter Lawrence requested a trade from the New York Giants. Can’t say we really blame him. He needs to get out of there while he can.
Lamar Jackson will be reporting to voluntary workouts for the Ravens. That came as a shock to us, because most stud quarterbacks skip them. Good for him, though.
Ten Daily Musings for 4/2/2026:
The Pirates are calling up top prospect Konnor Griffin. I don’t know why he started the year in the minors, but we will be keeping tabs on him. He looks like the real deal.
Paul Skenes has looked human his first two starts. He had a much better outing yesterday, but still gave up a few runs. He will be fine though. Wow, the first two bullet points were about the Pittsburgh Pirates. Who would have thought?
The Mariners offense is absolutely awful so far. Their three “best” hitters are all hitting under .120. This team has World Series aspirations and they need Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez, and Josh Naylor to snap out of it. Soon.
Speaking of Raleigh, neither him nor Shohei Ohtani have hit a home run yet. We are guessing once they do get the monkey off their back, they will hit them in bunches.
Cade Cunningham is out at least another week for the Pistons. For Detroit to make any noise in the playoffs they need him back and playing at a high level.
The NBA MVP race is very interesting. Victor Wembenyama is trying to close the gap on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but does he have enough time? Either way what Wemby is doing is remarkable.
Tom Izzo almost went to the NBA to coach the Suns last season. We can’t see him anywhere other than Michigan St., so we are glad he stayed.
Kirk Cousins was signed by the Raiders to backup and mentor Fernando Mendoza. If Mendoza wants to learn how to make a ton of money without doing anything remarkable, Cousins is the guy to learn from.
Puka Nacua checked himself into rehab. We hope he gets the help he needs, because he is a damn fun player to watch.
We can’t wait to watch Sunday at the Masters next week. Best sports day of the year in our opinion.
Ten Daily Musings for 4/1/2026:
Tiger Woods really needs to hire a personal driver. We loved watching him golf, but after his fourth incident with a vehicle, he should never be behind the wheel again.
April is a great month for sports. The end of college basketball, the start of MLB, the Masters, and playoffs for the NBA and NHL. Got to love it!
The 2026 MLB season is a week old. The surprise teams for us are the Texas Rangers and the Miami Marlins.
The disappointing teams for us are the Boston Red Sox and the San Diego Padres.
Whoever wins the final four matchup between Arizona and Michigan will win the National Championship. No disrespect to UCONN and Illinois but these are the best two teams.
We are going to go with Arizona to cut down the nets next Monday.
Detroit and Oklahoma City will be the top seeds in their respective conferences in the NBA playoffs. We don’t think either will make the Finals.
San Antonio and the New York Knicks are our picks to make the finals.
All ten teams in both conferences are already decided. Despite most teams having five to six games left. The only thing left to play for is seeding.
Everyone knows that their is a top three for the NBA draft in June. We are very interested to see who will be getting those picks. We hope one of them is the Pacers. That team will be dynamite next year if they add a big time prospect.
