Welcome to the first day of May! We had a winning record in April, and we are looking to continue that today!
Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh:
Will the Cubs lose two in a row to the Pirates? With Paul Skenes on the mound the answer is yes. Pick: Pittsburgh
Loss
St. Louis at Cincinnati:
St. Louis swept both games of the doubleheader yesterday, but the Reds will win today to split the series. Pick: Cincinnati
Win
Arizona at New York Mets:
The Mets aren’t going to lose two games in a row at home. Not with Kodai Senga on the mound. Lock it up. Pick: New York Mets (Lock)
Loss (Lock Record 15-18)
Kansas City at Tampa Bay:
Shane Baz has been the main bright spot for the Rays this year. Now he takes the mound as the Rays try to avoid the sweep at the hand of the Royals. He will succeed. Pick: Tampa Bay
Loss
Minnesota at Cleveland:
Another team going for a sweep, the Guardians are throwing Ben Lively against the Twins. Minnesota is countering with Simeon Woods Richardson, who has been positively average this year. Lively has also been average so the pitching is a wash, but since the Twins are so bad on the road we are going with the Guardians to get the sweep. Pick: Cleveland
Win
Milwaukee at Chicago White Sox:
The White Sox are thanking their lucky stars that the Rockies are so bad, because otherwise they would once again be the laughingstock of baseball. We don’t know why but we are going with Chicago to get the win and avoid the sweep. Just call it a gut feeling. Pick: Chicago White Sox
Win
Athletics at Texas:
Texas has looked really bad the last two weeks, going from first place to fourth place in the division. The Athletics are terrible at home, but actually pretty good on the road. Since this game is not being played in Sacramento, we are going with the Athletics to win the game and take the series. Pick: Athletics
Win
Washington at Philadelphia:
We missed picking this game yesterday so we counted it as a loss, but we are not making the same mistake today. The Phillies have won four in a row and are looking for the sweep of the Nationals. Washington is throwing Brad Lord, who hasn’t gotten out of the fifth inning in any start. He won’t do it today either. Pick: Philadelphia
Loss
Boston at Toronto:
Tanner Houck and Jose Berrios squaring off in Toronto. The balls will be flying all over the yard, but more will be hit by the Blue Jays as they get the win. Pick: Toronto
Win
Detroit at Los Angeles Angels:
The Angels completely imploded yesterday against the Mariners, allowing six runs in the seventh inning of a 9-3 loss. Now they are facing a Tigers team that has even better starting pitching than Seattle. It starts today with Casey Mize, who will flummox the Angels hitters and get the win. Pick: Detroit
Win
Colorado at San Francisco:
Baseball has been going for over a month, and the Rockies still have not won two games in a row. This is the perfect get right game for Justin Verlander and he will take advantage. Pick: San Francisco
Loss
Happy picking everyone!
