We had an undefeated day in the NBA and missed our first NFL pick of the season. We have plenty of time to turn it around so let’s get on with our recaps.

October 19th results:

What we got right:

NBA:

Milwaukee at Philadelphia:

It wasn’t the high scoring affair we thought it would be, but the result went our way as the Bucks got a hard fought 90-88 win over the 76ers. James Harden flirted with a triple double for Philadelphia, but Joel Embiid went just 6-21 from the field. That isn’t going to get it done against a good Bucks defense. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 21 points and 13 rebounds in the win for Milwaukee. These two teams are going to battle it out with the Celtics all season long for supremacy in the Eastern Conference.

Los Angeles Clippers at Los Angeles Lakers:

We didn’t get this right until the final two seconds, when Robert Covington made 2 free throws to clinch the 103-97 win for the Clippers. Another game that featured more defense than anticipated, the Clippers held LeBron James and Russell Westbrook to a combined 7-28 from the field. Kawhi Leonard came off the bench in his first game in a year and a half, and chipped in 14 points in 21 minutes.

What we got wrong:

NFL:

When you get two pick sixes in back to back drives, such as the Cardinals did, it is hard to lose the game. Andy Dalton threw for four touchdowns, but also had three interceptions, including the two that got returned for scores in the 42-34 loss for the Saints. We were right in saying we don’t trust any of the quarterbacks, as it was Dalton losing this game more than Kyler Murray winning it, but that happens in the NFL.
