NBA:

Atlanta at Indiana:

Indiana is still winless on the year, but they have played teams tough and have had quite a few injuries. We think today is the day they get their first win of the season in taking down the Hawks at home. Pick: Indiana 117 Atlanta 110

Boston at Philadelphia:

These two teams met on opening night and the 76ers took home a one point win in Boston. The reason why Philadelphia got the win was because Boston had no answer for the back court combination of Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. Now that this game is in Philadelphia, we are going to take the 76ers to win again. This time by more than one. Pick: Philadelphia 114 Boston 108

Toronto at Cleveland:

The Cleveland Cavaliers got called out by Kendrick Perkins for lack of effort after a 20 point loss to the Celtics earlier this week. If Kendrick Perkins calls you out for effort problems, you got to do some deep soul searching. We think that will strike a chord with Cleveland and they will dominate the Raptors at home. Pick: Cleveland 124 Toronto 107

New York (-4.5) at Chicago:

The Chicago Bulls will no longer be undefeated after they face the New York Knicks tonight. Chicago has been a nice story so far, but the challenges are about to ramp up, starting with a visit from the Knicks. New York is the better basketball team, and will show that tonight. Pick: New York 119 Chicago 105

Los Angeles Lakers at Memphis (-5.5):

Memphis has alternated wins and losses the first five games of the season. That means they will lose this game against the Lakers, right? As Lee Corso would say “Not so fast my friend”. We like the Grizzlies to finally win two games in a row. However, it will be close, and they will not cover the spread. Pick: Memphis 114 Los Angeles Lakers 111

Utah at Phoenix (-3.5):

These two teams played last week, with the Jazz winning by four on their home court. Now they are facing off in Phoenix and the Suns are a 3.5 point favorite? That smells fishy to me. Give me the Jazz to beat the Suns again. Pick: Utah 128 Phoenix 122

Denver (-5.5) at Portland:

Portland has lost two good teams in the Timberwolves (with Anthony Edwards) and the Clippers. The Nuggets are probably better than both of those teams. We like Nikola Jokic to get another triple double and lead the Nuggets to a comfortable win on the road in Portland. Pick: Denver 116 Portland 103

New Orleans at Los Angeles Clippers:

The Pelicans are currently the only winless team in the Western Conference. They have a -19 point differential. Their biggest probles is the worst offense in the league, and frankly it’s not even close. The Clippers defense is solid, so we think the problems for the Pelicans will continue as Los Angeles wins at home. Pick: Los Angeles Clippers 198 New Orleans 97

NCAA Football:

Memphis (-13.5) at Rice:

Memphis has had as confusing a last two weeks as any team in college football. First they lose to a UAB team that just fired their coach. Then they beat a ranked South Florida team that many people had penciled into the playoffs. We have no idea what to make of this team! Two weeks ago, Rice allowed 61 points to UTSA, but before that their defense was actually pretty good. Since we have no idea what to do with these games, we are going to take the points, but predict Memphis will win. Pick: Memphis 33 Rice 23

Happy picking everyone!
